This was an exciting event for the little one’s as they got to learn about different sharks, their purposes, how they live and survive underwater and above all, the fun moment, The dissection moment, this served and an educational session for the kids to see and witness the insides of the shark.
Sharks have been swimming the oceans for over 400 million years, long before dinosaurs roamed the Earth. They are apex predators, sitting at the top of the food chain and playing a vital role in keeping marine ecosystems balanced. By preying on the sick and weak, they ensure the health of fish populations, which in turn maintains the ecological balance of our oceans. Without sharks, the marine environment would suffer dramatically, leading to the decline of coral reefs, seagrass beds, and commercial fisheries.

Despite their importance, sharks face numerous threats. Overfishing, habitat destruction, and climate change are just a few of the challenges these creatures encounter. One of the most significant threats is finning, where sharks are captured, their fins cut off, and then they are thrown back into the ocean to die. This practice has led to a dramatic decrease in shark populations worldwide, with some species experiencing declines of over 90%.
Moreover, sharks are often misunderstood and feared due to their portrayal in media and movies as ruthless killers. In reality, shark attacks on humans are extremely rare. According to the International Shark Attack File, the odds of being attacked by a shark are 1 in 11.5 million. Yet, this irrational fear has contributed to the negative perception and mistreatment of sharks.
